A friend gave me his computer to checkout. It has the same problem as mentioned in this thread: http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/...

The lights upon failure are A & B are yellow and C & D are green. I removed the battery, and did the power switch thing but that solved nothing. Could this be the warning of a low battery? Any help would be appreciated. Thanx!

The following web page says that light configuration indicates a RAM problem.

Try reseating the RAM stick(s).

Well, I blew out the dust, reseated the RAM, even put in a new battery... no change. Now what? Is the RAM bad? Thanx.

I have even done the remove one DIMM at a time to identify the bad one... both out... same problem... either slot... same problem. The orientation in the slot is the same as it was when the thing was working. Any ideas?

I am assuming the silence means the RAM is trashed and there's no other fix? Thanx.
