Hi all.
I am experiencing seriously slow speed on my tower... Internet windows take at least 20 seconds to open, any program takes ages to open..
The thing is, i have run a full scan using nod32, and a full scan using windows defender "and" avg antispy with a clean bill of health. I have defragged, and done a disc scan for errors, given an all clear there too.
So I figure it might be a ram problem, but checking device manager says ram is working correctly.
So I'm thinking my graphics ram may be playing up, or faulty, so my question is..
Is there a program (free if poss please) to check graphics ram, or have I missed something else i could check?
Many thanks ppl.

I'm always open to learn new stuff. How do you check your RAM in Device Manager? Opening Internet Explorer shouldn't be dependent on graphics RAM. Did this problem start all at once or gradually?

the problem started all at once.
When I say "check" ram from device manager, I mean that it displays my ram as 512 as inserted. not to say that it's working properly lol. I have known ram "capacity" to decrease if its faulty, so presumed if i still have 512Mb, then it is not at fault lol. just a presumption.

I doubt this is a RAM issue but it can still be faulty even if it shows the correct size. Try:
http://www.docmemory.com

Clear your temporary internet files.

Check if there are too many background programs running. Maybe you don't need all of them or can work some from shortcuts when required instead.

You could have unecessary services running too. There are many websites with XP speed up suggestions.
