I'm trying to improve the performance of my machine by reducing the pagefile size and moving it to seperate harddrives. When i change the settings in the virtual memory options it does what it supposed to do. But after restarting the machine the changes have not taken place. I've rechecked the options and they are still set to what I've changed them to. Is this because of the total paging file size for all drives option and if so how do I either reduce or turn this off?

The Total paging file size for all drives section at the bottom of the virtual memory window just show mininmum allowed (you cannot go lower than this) and recommended, then currently allocated (your setting)

I currenly have mine set to a custom size at 256 and 256 thus it is basically fixed.

If you selected a custom size and it still shows that when you go to your virtual memory window it is set.

If you do not want a paging file select No paging file and it should work, I would only suggest you do this if you have a lot of memory.
