Interesting, whatever it is you are wanting to do.
3.6 GHz CPU would suggest that the Dell machine is new. If so then the hard drive should be running off of the SATA controller and not IDE.

If it infact is running off of the SATA then you only have one IDE channel available for a CD or DVD ROM or Burners.

So, what have you got and what are you trying to do?
And, that something about a MAC address...can you be more specific with that message?

You can't change a mac address, it's hard coded into your network card.

In visiting the SMAC link my firewall jumped on it because the site is wanting to send a UDP message. (I denied it and the page opened fine)

I don't get it on a second visit to the page.

What is UDP?

Quote
User Datagram Protocol. A communications protocol for the Internet network layer, transport layer, and session layer, which makes it possible to send a datagram message from one computer to an application running in another computer. Like TCP (Transmission Control Protocol), UDP is used with IP (the Internet Protocol). Unlike TCP, UDP is connectionless and does not guarantee reliable communication; the application itself must process any errors and check for reliable delivery.
www.startech.com/glossary/glossary.cfm
End of this particular quote

But, what is UDP used for? What is it's purpose, specifically, in entering that web page?

"from one computer to an application running in another computer"

I assume the application it is referring to on my PC is Internet Explorer.

Anyone know the answers and does anyone else's firewall jump on it?

Bryan
