Changing motherboard on Pavilion

We have a Pavilion 7935 with what is presumed to be a dead motherboard. The specs say that it is an Asus A7V-VM. It is one of those small square boards with onboard sound/video and only 3 PCI slots (no AGP). Of course there is not support from HP. I noticed that Asus has a motherboard A455-2033 which looks identical. I have emailed their tech support to see if I could replace that board with a new Asus but I haven't heard from them. Could you give me any advice or should I just buy a barebones? Thanks Linda

If thier support will not help you then don't buy thier stuff. I would buy a barebones system.

Biostar makes a great Motherboard for the buck. (shameless plug there) I have a m7tdb. I agree 100% about if no support, go elsewhere. Just shop around before you plunk your money down.
