I have a Gforce 4 ti 4200 and am having lockup problem. I am told by the manufacturer that the card needs to be on IRQ 11 but when I install it it always goes to IRQ 5 or 3. I have looked in the bios (ambios simple setup utility version 1.21.06) and there is no prvision for changing IRQ's. win xp also does not support that.....how can i change the video IRQ?

Take all of the other cards out of the machine and put them back in using a different order and slot assignments.

I have only 1 agp slot and I have taken all other pci's out. and I made sure that IRQ 11 was open. I uninstalled and reinstalled the video card and it went to IRQ 5 again.....any other suggestions

Does your motherboard have onboard video? If so, you need to disable it in your bios.

You can't manually change irq in Windows XP. You will have to set it in Bios and most likely reinstall Windows XP with the newer bios settings. Check out this article from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];Q314068 As you see, this behavior is by design, and there is not much you can do. Try disabling ACPI and reinstalling, this way bios will be assigning IRQs and not Windows, which is usually the better way to go with older boards (KT133 and KT266 based) If you need help on how to do this, check my self brewed instructions, which helped me back in time: http://redsolar.home.mchsi.com/windowsxp/irql.txt
