Kind of strange. I just right-clicked on my Internet Explorer icon, clicked on properties, clicked on CHANGE ICO, and it showed 18-20 different icons.
Can't explain why yours only has one. Are you running IE6, or another version?

Try clicking on the desk icon without Internet Explorer running (close the program).

That is because you cant do it on the desktop shortcut.
You have to go through the programs to internet explorer then right click and you will see the prompt to change it.

Robbie's right. I clicked the icon in my START list and brought up the properties/icon change with the program off.
With all the recent security problems with IE, I've been using Mozilla Firebird and Opera for most of my Internet browsing. :-)

I suspect that those who believe girls don't have computer sense were born long before computers were invented. 8-)

You can change the desktop icon if you find the right registry key and CLSID...
Run regedit and browse to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\ {871C5380-42A0-1069-A2EA-08002B30309D}\DefaultIcon The default value is shdoclc.dll,-190 (I believe the -190 is some sort of index into the shdoclc.dll file which contains a bunch of icons. If you simply use an ICO file (instead of a DLL or EXE file), then you should use index 0.)
Hope this helps a bit

CyberSlug, you're a life saver. I just change it to the right directory path to a ICO file and the IE icon changed.
