I asked essentially the same question and got no answer.

[not why but how]

What I plan to do on the next resh install is rename font files to get rid of the crappy MSsans, Ariel etc.

You could try this on your existing installation, but my huch is it could blow up.

Sometimes I can't resist a chuckle at the odd thing folks ask about but hey, it's your system, do what you like.

I do know a way to change the font size but not style. There may be a way to do this also but haven't tried.

Grab a copy of Resource Hacker from here:

http://www.users.on.net/johnson/resourcehacker/

Load taskman.exe into it and play away.

Because you can change the properties of just about every aspect of a program's GUI it is a potentially dangerous tool so always backup your original .exe before experimenting.

I have found it very useful for increasing the sizes of various dialogue windows and also repositioning them on the screen.

On example, connected to your request actually, was to lengthen the Task Manager processes window in order to be able to see ALL tasks at the same time instead of having to scroll.

kinel,

Good one.

I'll try it after backing up.

Dialog box sizing would be very helpful.

The reason for changing the font style in task manager is because of the problem with the font used. The problem is with the letters lower case "L" and upper case "I". They look identical and the process Isass.exe and process lsass.exe look identical. One is a nasty virus the other a needed system process. Changing the style to a Times Roman can help see exactly what's going on. Thanks

You could try this, but the default font size is taken is 8, and I don't know how to change it.

1. Go to your registry by typing "regedit" in the cmd prompt
2.Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitues
3. there is a key called MS Shell Dlg 2. Change its value to whatever font name you want (Verdana, Arial etc)
4.Re-start windows
5. You can see the font change when you are logging in, and in the task manager also. But the size of the font is still 8 and I don't know how to change it,

Hope this is helpful
Thanks
