CHanging an *.exe to a *.bin file

CPU/Ram: 1ghz/256

I have a file that is named filename.bin.exe
and i can't seem to rename this file to just filename.bin. Windows wont let me make it something other than an application. Can someone help?

Try doing it from a command prompt:

rename filename.bin.exe filename.bin
