What file types are they now and how are you trying to change them?

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

I don't know if this will help you or not but:
I used to have a Sony with XP Home. For some reason that version would not allow any changes such as even renaming a file while it was in the My Documents folder. (the right click option was not there at all)
I had to move the file first, make changes and then move it back.
I don't know if this was common to their version or just in mine.

thanks rhawk, but i don't think that is the problem. Mechanix, it is a VLC media file and opens up with a certain program but i want to change it so it .bin file or a .cue file.

You can RENAME some.wav to some mp3 but that does not make it an mp3; it just makes it a wav with the wrong extension.

If you CONVERT some.wav to some.mp3, then it's an mp3 a will work with an mp3 player.

"it is a VLC media file and opens up with a certain program"

What certain program?
