I use IE 6 SP2. Every since I changed some security settings using SafeXP, my computer has stopped showing active content for both Internet Explorer and CDs. Even reverting back to the original settings using SafeXP has not solved the problem. All the IE zones use the default settings. I clicked the Advanced tab in Internet Options to see whether the two 'Allow active content' options were enabled or not. There was a check mark next to each of these options. This means that these two options are enabled. So what could be causing the problem?

Every time IE encounters any page having active content, the following message is displayed: 'To help protect your security, internet explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options.' After that, even selecting the 'Allow blocked content' option does not show the active content. Also autorun CDs having active content fail to run automatically. An initialization error message appears each time such CDs are inserted into the CD drive. I then have to right-click the drive icon and choose open.

How can I solve this problem? Has some registry key been deleted or added by SafeXP? I have even reinstalled the Windows XP OS, but even this has not solved the problem. The computer is blocking all active content of IE and CDs.

r28271, sounds to me like the action of some sort of firewall. Can you access it to allow the desired items to run? Some offer an 'ignore' option.
Another thing you might be sure of is an oldie, but ... IE6, as shipped, had 'don't allow downloads ...' checked by default under it's security options. If that's checked, it'll block...
