changed domain to workgroup - can't login

Okay, looks like this is a common problem, but I've run into it. Argh.

Have a computer that was given to me by old company, so don't have access to their network anymore to reconnect back to their domain controller.

Changed the domain to workgroup, and the good news is that I do have local admin access. However, I'm not able to log into the original domain user account (no domain to select).

- how do I login in as the original user/domain to get access to the same my-documents directory? If I create a new local user, it sets up a totally new directory, not using my original user (domain) directory.
- Is there a way to create a _local_ user that access the old domain user account files as the default, so I have the same configurations and mozilla bookmarks, etc.?

- do I need to recreate the domain login account - perhaps by doing a system restore? I don't have access to the corporate network anymore (nor do I need that access).

Thanks! This is so frustrating!!!

Kind of depends on where the files are at. If they are local then a local admin can take ownership. If they are on the server then access them there.

As to the original user it is a domain user and you can log on from any domain computer.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
