I have installed a new Hard drive leaving the existing drive in the computer
The new drive is at the end of the cable so It boots firstBut when I installed XP the drive letter became "E"
Everything still worked But I wanted it to be "C"
I changed the original drive "C" to "F" and changed to new drive to "C" using Partition Magic
Now the computer will not boot. How can I fix this problem
ThanksAllan Butler

may be some error like boot.ini configuration.
check boot.ini i.e partion no. and disk no. is correct?
to check boot.ini start your system dos bootable disk (if c: is on FAT32)or other NTFS compatibe tools.

I will have to do this tomorrow as I am not in front of that computer
OK, so I boot up with a startup disk.
If I have a "C" prompt (which is what I want) where do I go from here
How do I read or change the Boot.iniThanks
Allan Butler

If your XP file system is NTFS, a DOS boot disk will not be able to read NTFS.

Best way to fix booting is with Recovery Console.http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...

You need to start all over and reinstall. If you have PATA drives, make sure that the drive that you want the Operating System on is plugged as Master and the other drive is slave.
Better yet, put the Operating System drive on the first controller and the other hard drive on the second controller or even leave it disconnected during the install.
Then read the screen carefully during the install, to make sure you select the correct drive.
