Help !
I recently bought a laptop with (unfortunately) pre-installed and pre-activated Windows XP Home (and of course, I do not have the corresponding CD-Rom). So I want to install my copy of Office XP which is an Office XP Pro. When putting CD Rom in, it seems to open, switches to a black screen (like in DOS) to come immediately back to my desktop.. and nothing happens. I thought maybe Office XP Pro cannot be used with Win XP Home. So I want to install Win XP Pro version (which I got together with the Office XP Pro). I thought I simply need to put the CD in and it will eventually overwrite Win XP Home. No ! It only stops immediately and says: E:\i386\winnt32.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS: 0db5 IP: c6e0366320. I don't know what's the problem, why XP Pro does not simply overwrite XP Home or why I cannot install Office XP Pro on the Win XP Home? Can you help, please ? Ideally, I prefer to get rid of the home version and have everything as a Pro version.
