I have change the hdd from one pc in another pc. When I boot windows xp professional the blue screen is displayed. Its logical that the wrong drivers are loading. how can i start the setup to change the drivers. I will not reinstall windows xp.
Thank you for help.
sorry for terrible english

what kind of system did you remove the drive from and what kind of system did it go into. should not be the drivers now that i think about it because windows would have reloaded the drivers for the correct controllers etc etc. does the computer have another drive installed in it. if so make sure that the drive with xp is set to master and the other drive (if you have another one installed) is set to slave.

Deinstall ALL devices with the disk in the old system, shutdown.
Place the disk in the new system en hope it will work.else reinstall XP, my guess.

Hi,
A Hard Drive with XP installed will not work on another machine. It is bound to the system it was created with. Same is true with Win2000.
Cheers de Peter

You might be able to repair the installation. I haven't tried it yet, but it should work. Boot to the XP CD and begin the install procedure and choose the Repair option and see if that doesn't straighten things out.

Keep in mind that XP needs activation: the activation key is put together from all sorts of hardware information on the system it was installed on.
You will need another activation if you want to install it onto a new computer.
Thatīs why you run into trouble.
You can do 4 sort of radical hardware changes to your machine, but putting it on a completely different pc...
XP probably doesnīt let itself be fooled that itīs a just experiencing a hardware change on the original computer. You need to contact Microsoft. I heard they are a little more understanding now about people moving XP over to a new pc so try your luck.

WinXP like Win2000 won't work on another PC due to IDE conflict.... there is a patch for Win2000 but it won't work with XP, this patch can be found on the Microsoft Web Site, it is presented as a registry fix....
doin' the repair thing with the cd will work but you won't be able to put it back in the first pc...... though luck

When XP installs it creates "HAL.DLL
in this file is all the info on your hardware/bios/ram/etc.
If this does not match the system XP will not start.
To fix you need to do a repair installation

i forgot all about that xp takes the hardwares signature and saves that info to come up with the activation number. thats what happens when you sit around and read newspapers and chill at work all day. can we say brain fart
