|It is not required that you use 192.168.1.1 as your router's IP address. Is it possible that has been configured to use a different address? To check, open a command prompt and type ipconfig and press "Enter". Look for the IP address reported for "Default Gateway". This is your router's address. |
If you still can't access the router using this address, (can't remember password), you'll have to reset the router by pressing the reset button (located next to the on/off switch) and holding it for 10 seconds.
Keep in mind that when you reset the router, ALL settings will revert to their default values. That is, it's address will again be 192.168.1.1 and the password will be the default of "admin".
If you had changed any settings from their defaults, they will need to be re-configured again.
