How to change default program for EDIT command in right click menu?
Example:
JPEG is opened by default with Win pic and fax viewer (and I want it this way), but there us also EDIT command and then MS PAint is openning jpeg for edititng. I want to change default program for this EDIT command.
I know OPEN WITH option, but the question is abut DEFAULT PROGRAM to assign to EDIT command in RIGHT CLICK.
Thanks

Thanks,
But I don't want to change default program for VIEWING it just change default program for EDIT, and I don't want EDIT to be default command - just assign a program to EDIT command.
So I want Win pic and fax viewer to be default for viewing (and PREVIEW default command) and change program for EDIT command (from PAINT to for example Photoshop)
Tnaks again

Hey vector,

I'm not quite sure what exactly you are asking, but I assume you know about the FileType-associations, right?
WindowsExplorer>Tools>FolderOptions>FileTypes

There is such a thing as DDE (check Help&Support on the Start Menu for info)
which allows you to 'bind' your choice of action to certain commands. Trouble is, the program has to support DDE in order to do that, and the commands that you can use aren't normally made public, so you're left guessing at what they are. I would suggest searching the Microsoft site for info on DDE. Most of their programs support it, I think.

Usually, you have to view a picture before you can edit it. I don't know whether the automatic choice between Viewing/Editing can be made by other means than DDE.

What you could do, I guess, is customize the rightclick-menu, so you would get a View/Edit option there. There are programs on the Web that allow you to do that, just do a google on it. But make sure that it's not a 'dodgy' site if you choose to download those.

Happy computing...
