How can I change the default HTML editor? I'd like to be able to right-click an HTML file, click "Edit" and have it open in a program other than Notepad. Thanks!

G'day, here is the location in the Registry for that. You can either change the path to a different program or you can add a new program(s) and still keep Notepad as well.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
.+ Software
..+ Microsoft
...+ Internet Explorer
....+ Default HTML Editor
.....+ shell
......+ edit
.......- command > (default) "Notepad.exe %1"

To add another program add a new subkey to the Shell subkey with the program name instead of "edit" and a command key with a path to the program, You cannot have the 'edit' action twice.

I did this years ago but never really bothered with it again. I think by memory I added Wordpad and Frontpage to this.

Okay, quicker way is by the Folder Options, it's so cold down here my brain has frozen.

The other way I was thinking about the Internet Options > Programs choice that allows you to edit from the browser toolbar

An easier solution is to start Internet Explorer. Then go to Tools<Internet Options. On the Programs tab select your desired application as the HTML editor.

if your application is not in the list then you would need to revert to one of the suggestions above.
