when typing some keywords into the address bar of windows explorer, windows explorer accesses the net and goes to
http://auto.search.msn.com/response.asp?variables... to search for the term. isn't it possible to replace http://auto.search.msn.com/response.asp? by google.com? I can't find http://auto.search.msn.com in the registry. where is it?

Click the Search button, Click on Custom, Click Customize, Click on Autosearch Setting at the bottom, look threw the drop downl list, google is in there. I hope this helped you.
Bob

I tried and tried for hours, but it doesn't work. I searched the entire registry and the contents of all the files on harddisc, but I can't find where the address
http://auto.search.msn.com/response.asp?
is located. probably it is compiled into ie and cannot be changed.
As far as I understand, the following key controls, which search engine is used, if one types keywords into the address bar of windows/internet explorer:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL]
or
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL]
value is:
""="http://www.google.com/keyword/%s"
or
""="http://www.google.com/search?q=%s"
I changed the key as described above, but it doesn't help, explorer still tries to go to
http://auto.search.msn.com/ instead to google.
I can create a subkey:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL\gg]
""="http://www.google.com/search?q=%s"
and then by typing
gg keywords
I force explorer to search on google, but then I always have to type "gg" before the keyword.Does somebody know how change the registry to force explorer to search on google by typing the keywords only into the address bar?
