Comment:

I was doing some "Spring Cleaning" (deleting my downloads, stupid files I don't need, VIRC scripts that don't work) and I found the file Flashplayer.xpt in C:\. I opened it in notepad, like all the other 'suss' files and this is what it contained;

XPCOM
TypeLib
  X " u€ À F  B±Õ¤l+Ö€c ›ÂW
ÔXþœQŒÖ„Ë ›ÂW 8 OnsISupports FlashIObject   /€`’   €evaluate FlashIScriptablePlugin   ¦`

 `   €  %€€€€  1€€‘  ;€‘€  F€‘€‘  Q€‘`  _€‘`‘  m€‘  s€‘  }€‘€‘  ‰€‘`‘  •€‘€€‘  ¢€‘€`‘  ¯€‘€`  Ä€‘€‘  Ï€‘€  Ú€’ €  €IsPlaying Play StopPlay TotalFrames CurrentFrame GotoFrame Rewind Back Forward Pan PercentLoaded FrameLoaded FlashVersion Zoom SetZoomRect LoadMovie TGotoFrame TGotoLabel TCurrentFrame TCurrentLabel TPlay TStopPlay SetVariable GetVariable TSetProperty TGetProperty TGetPropertyAsNumber TCallLabel TCallFrame SetWindow

Is this file safe to delete? it just looks stupid being the only file in C:\, alone with all the folders.

YES. This looks like a Macromedia Flash Player plugin, which was probably installed by Flash Player, but not deleted. However, don't delete the file. Move it to the Recycle Bin and attempt to restart Windows. If Windows runs fine, then you can permanently delete the file. If Windows or one of your programs gives you an error message, restore the file.

When you have computer issues, Windows 2000 Expert will provide the answer to anything!
