I recently did a clean install of XP Pro usning an upgrade disk. Also installed SP1a. Got all device drivers loaded and everything is fine except the CD-RW won't recognize any disk; blank, data, audio etc. The other CD-ROM drive works fine. The CD-RW is recognized in the device manager and it says it is working properly. I do not have any burning software installed yet so it is not a problem with that. Could there have been something missing in SP1a and would SP2 correct my problem? Thanks in advance for any asssistance.

See if this does anything:
In My Computer, right click the drive, then Properties, then Auto Play tab, then click "Prompt me each time to choose an action"

Thanks-That's the way it was already. Seems like the computer is communicating with the drive; light blinks as if it's reading, but when I try to explore a disk, it just comes up blank.
