My CD-RW will not open brand new CD-Rs. When I try to open them it says its an Invalid Function
I have tried several brands of CD-Rs and none work.

hey PEACHFUZ,

blank CD-R's don't read. there's nothing on them. you will always get that error unless you burn something to them.

CD-Rs are not like formatted floppies.

just a thought.

may not be right but you may want to update the drivers for cd-rw.it may help.and yes they should open up even if they are empty.or at lease mine do.

hey ZEB,

your burner will open new-out-of-the-box, unformatted CD-RWs?

don't tell me it will open unburned CD-Rs too. I won't believe you. But if you can prove it... :)

hey ZEB,

that gagging, choking sound you hear is my foot in my mouth.

I've built countless XP machines w/CD-RWs and never once bothered to see how XPs CD authoring functions worked. Most of my customers want good, multi-function burning software so I honestly never checked. Just assumed.

works like a charm. double clicking on a blank CD-R opens a write to cd dialog box.

the rest is utter simplicity.

wow, i'm feeling very old and set in my ways...

ZEB, do you remember this operating system called DOS? just kidding...you must be both young and inventive. I am crustily set in my ways.

bless you child.

I will now remove my foot from my mouth.

to all in this post:

for the record, ZEB schooled me like I was a kindergartener in a dodgeball match with fourth graders.

that sucks. :)

It takes class to admit you might be wrong, and class not to say "told ya so" !
