Can a cd-rw laser lens be dirty? Can I clean it? Do I use that standard cd lens cleaner?
I try to burn cd and they all fail, but one software (Blindwrite) gives me this error:

I was told by a friend that you can't run cd cleaners in the cdrw's cause you will wrick them.Any ideas?

You can clean the lens but you must be VERY VERY careful. The best thing I found was one of my wife's makeup brushes (unused of course), clean and soft.
Above all NEVER EVER be tempted to use any type of cleaning agent or solvent unless specifically made for the cleaning of laser lenses.
I have never had the need to try so called CD cleaners but would be very wary of them.
Does it read CD's OK.

And early bird, Thanks for letting me know about that post, but you are a absolutly no help to me, I have posted here a number of times and helped a number of times, I have checked out the manufacturers website and the knowledgenet are no help either.
My suggestion to you is not to spam with garbage, if you are gonna post why not let some one know about a problem instead of sending them to a post that says to try other resources before comming here.
Move along little doggy, and try to help if you're going to be here. other wise don't try and write anythin.

I had the same type of problem with my burner, it read cd's fine but I was having trouble burning. It happened right about the time I switched to winXP making me think that was the problem.
Well I tried a lens cleaning cd, it didn't work. So I did what worked on my other cdrom drives a few times before. I opened up the drive and with a cotton swab sprayed with glass cleaner wiped the lens. After that my burner was back to normal.
I did this to my cdrom drives when they weren't reading cd's properly and a cd lens cleaner didn't work.
