Subject: CD-RW in XP
Comment:

Hi, Thanks for providing support like this. I am attempting to support the office manager at my office. We just installed new XP onto newly formatted disk, no problems. Brand new box, a kit. Installed CD-RW drive. manager wants to drag&drop files onto the CD. I thought CD-RW supported this activity, but for the life of me, I cannot find any XP reference to CD-RW that is useful, just CD-R. The drive acts like a CD-R using XP's Windows Explorer. Is there a native CD-RW support in XP, or do I need to get Nero or Roxio for this function?

Thanks for the info,

Joe

InCD supports this feature, it lets you drag and drop into explorer. The software you use depends really on your CD-RW drive (which should have come with the required software on a CD).

Yeah it's true XP's built in CD-RW burning sucks. Don't bother with it.

I use Nero Burning Rom
You have to disable the XP software first by right clicking your CDRW selecting properties/recording and untick Enable CD Recording on this drive.
BEFORE installing Nero INCD right click the EXE file and select properties/compatibility with Windows 2000.
Re-boot and your computer should now recognise INCD which will be in your startup folder.
You should now be able to drag and drop into a CDRW.
