OS: Windows XP Home
Intel P4
Cd-rw: LTR-40125WI was first having problems with burning CDs. It would give me a writing error frequently with Nero, so I updated the firmware. It started working better and I was able to burn a cd, but now it doesn't detect any cds I place in the drive. When I try to burn with nero it says I need to put a disc with more space. I’ve tried different types of CDs to make sure it wasn’t a problem with the type of cd-rs and still no luck. I’ve uninstalled the drivers and have windows reinstall them. I also tried updating the firmware, but nothing seems to work. Windows detects the drive fine, the operation of the drive seems fine, but it can’t pick anything up. I've put in music cds, software cds, etc and nothing can be detected in this drive.
I also have a dvd-rom on my computer and when I go to windows explorer and try to see what is on that drive it says to enter a disc when it is empty. I can have the cd-rw be empty and I can still explore it and it just says there are no files.
I did install a program called tuneup 2003 and run some of the system cleaning programs. I uninstalled it though. I thought it might have had something to do with the drive not working. I’m not sure what to do anymore. I’ve run the flash firmware update and it says it’s successful, but no luck.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What are you trying to burn? how big are the files? when you try to fill a disk up to the max Nero will tell you that it will only fit on the disk if you finalize it, no such option with you i take it?
