I'm NEW to XP.
Have always used 98se in the past.
I'm confused about the use of dragging & dropping to CD-RW in XP. In 98 you could just drag files/folders over to the CD-RW drive and the files would be written there. You could then change attributes or delete these files. Essentially, the CD-RW could act EXACTLY like a floppy or another hard drive.
What's up with XP? I can't seem to do this. I can drag files and folders over to the CD-RW but then these are put into a "holding area". Then I get prompted if I want to write these (duh). When I answer "yes" the LONG process begins and it seems to be writing an entire disks' worth of information for one or two files.
Then I can't change attributes or delete just this one file at a time. I have to erase the entire disk to remove one file!!
Is this normal behavior for XP?? This seems like a step backwards from 98.
What am I missing here? How do I TRULY drag & drop in XP??thanks for any help,
bulloney

As great as XP is...the default cd writing program is not! I recommend you try Nero. You can download a trial version. You will be able to add and remove files , rename them, move them from folder to folder, etc.

Thanks for the quick response.
I have Nero that I run on my other 98 machine. I'll try that on this XP box.Again, thanks,
