I am currently having problems with my CD-ROM... The tray opens and closes by itself and it’s getting real bothersome. Can anyone help me solve this problem?
take the data/IDE cable out of the drive, then turn the system back on. if the drive still opens and closes by itself, the drive's bad.
if it doesn't, then you know it's a software setting. eliminate the actual drive before attempting random stabs at fixing the problem.

Download a registry cleaner (i find Tweak-Xp is excellent), install and run. If no joy then, download "Ad-aware" from Lavasoft, install and run an in depth scan, It's not just for ads, but spyware too.
I'd be VERY surprised if after doing these things you still have a problem.

I concur with Dan, make sure its not a bad drive BEFORE you start fiddling with software and installing more software.
If its a bad drive no amount of 'software' will fix it.

Well, I tried what Hooner13 suggested and I haven’t had any problems for 5 hours.
