Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

If you have added a new drive have you checked the master/slave jumpers? Have you tried unplugging the ide and power cables to the cdrom with the computer turned off? Then restart the computer and logoff/turnoff the computer. Reinstall the cables and turn on the computer to let plug and play detect the cdrom as a new device, and do the new hardware installation.

Hi rockeel,

I had the same problem and found I was able to fix the problem by doing a system restore to a date previous to when the problem started. I am using XP Home Edition. If you are unsure of how to do a system restore, just open "Help and Support" on the XP Start menu, and do a search for system restore...it will walk you through it. Good luck!
