Hi everyone,

Can anyone help me with this...

When I start up my computer and use the internet this website becomes my homepage - http://default-homepage-network.com/index2.html - It tells me that I have spywayre and to buy the software (uhm no!) And then another pop up says I have spyware if my cd-rom opens and then it does open =(

I looked at my add/remove programs and there is nothing odd looking in there, I have ran spybot and norton and it finds nothing,,,

Please send me a reply on how to fix this.

Thank yoU!

Have you scanned for a trojan, and checked the settings of your firewall(http://www.grc.com/ "Shields Up all common ports) and http://www.pcflank.com/ for a trojan scan. If it is positive get a trial trojan program and use it to clean your system(TDS, Tauscan, Trojan Remover are all ggod programs to try).

Change your home page to the one you normally use and restart your computer. If the hijacking home page comes back up then there is spyware on your machine. Use Adaware (free) to remove the spyware from your machine.

It is a harmless Active X contol on your hijacked homepage that is causing your CD to open. (This is abused by pranksters to make people think that there is a virus on their machine).

To fix the problem just use Micosoft's Update page to update Windows Media Player (or download the separate patch if you know how).
