Comment:

When ever something is copying from the CD-ROM, my computer slows down and it makes it impossible to play MP3s and hard to surf while that is happening.

Windows XP Pro
Memorex 40x CD-ROM
20Gb Maxtor HDD
Athlon 1.2 GHz
Abit KT7a

Any ideas? This did not used to occur. TIA

This sis not used

try connect your CDROM and HDD on separate IDE channel, CDROMS work best as master devices.

Try defragmenting your hard drive, choose a slower write speed, close large programs, and install as much RAM memory chips as you can.
