After getting great help on this forum cleaning up some trojans, the cd and dvd rom keep coming up with the "please insert disk into drive" error. Could someone tell me what services should be running or possible fixes to this problem? The drives are HP built ins on pavilion a710n.

I have a cd in the E Drive and DVD in the F drive, when I go to computer and click either drive the message appears. Tried to run the CD in Windows Media Player and get the message "No disc in drive". Could you tell me what services need to be running as possibly the problem? Or what registry values need to be present in the registry?

If what is supposed to be an accurate +5v is too low, you will have problems with your optical drives, your floppt drive, and your USB devices.
If what is supposed to be an accurate +5v is way too high, it will eventually damage the logic board on your optical drives, floppy drive, and after a longer time could also damage your hard drive logic board(s), and your USB controllers.Check your PS.
Check the voltages in your bios Setup pages.

After closing the drive drawer, with the CD in it, see if the drive activity light is blinking. If the light is blinking, but then same problem, I have figured lately that the my drive is not spinning the CD for reading.
I leave a game CD in the drive. I open, then close the drawer to start
Autoplay, and light blinks, but I cannot hear drive spinning.
Lately, I have taken to slapping the side of my Desktop PC case.
Then it works.May be that DUST is getting the best of my Drive.
DUST collects inside computers, and can cause hardware
damage, overheating, faulty fans, faulty drives
Is yours clean.????
