CD/DVD & A drives disabled

After upgrading from AVG6 to 7 anti-virus checker CD/DVD and A drives do not work. I have restored to previous date prior AVG and they work fine. Reloading AVG7 or Avast anti-virus checker disables drives. Is this a registry problem - any comments please.

Try enabling the drives in device manager.
Click start, right click my computer, click manage. Select device manager, find your drives and check their properties select "use this drive (enable)".

I'm having the same problem, by following rhawk's instructions I was presented with this message:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
I attempted to start a Troubleshoot but it ran me around in circles. Any other advice?

okay first of run device manager try removing all three devices then scan for hardware changes to see if that works.
alternatively try unplugging all devices booting your pc to windows shutting down then plugging them all in again then rebooting.

What you need to do is search for and delete the appropriate filters in the registry and reboot.
