Well... Christmas last year I managed to get the blue screen of death (or i'm lead to believe by my parent's friends/technicians) Anyhowe, story goes, and I re-formatted my HD. Then, many driver's wouldn't run/work.
1) One being my sound drive.
So I suffered without sound for a week, until I downloaded a windows update. Which fixed that problem... Several month's later my cd-drive stopped workin' altogeather. Thing is, it didn't always work to great. It didn't read certain blank discs, and certain discs, and ALL discs completly...Anyways, my mum was threatening to take it in and get it fixed...SO i'm here deceiding wth is wrong with it.
I've managed to fix a filter problem with the disc drive, as it was faulty, and, now i have both my disc drive and cd-drive working. And no errors are showen or anything in the device manager. But, I still have the same problem, my cd-drive won't run anything, it loads, then shows up blank...
CD-Drive: ATAPI CD-R/RW 32X10
Disc Drives: ST340810ARunning on windows xp home edition...
Any help is appreciated
-Thanks

Try going to the website of the drive and see if there is a firmware upgrade for the drive. This may fix the issue and allow for better support in the future.

1. If the drive is not reading any cds then the drive is faulty.
2. If you installed any cd burning software then follow the instructions mentioned on the following Microsoft Knowledgebase article KB314060
