My computer specs
1gig ddr400
Amd 2600
asus a7n8x moboOkay, My problem is my burner will work fine as a cd-rom but not as a burner, when I run nero it crashs on the SCSI/IDE bus scan and if I run easy cd-creator it says it cant find my burner ... So I`m thinking it isnt detecting it as a burner, and I have no idea why, I`m completly lost as to how to fix this problem, i`ve updated nero, updated firmware, i`ve updated my chipset and the LG burner drivers for my LG CGE8400B (thats my burner) any suggestions / requests for more info plz respond.
Oh and also, in my computer it shows up as a CD-RW drive, and if I reclick it and goto hardware its called a DVD/CD-Rom drive, as is my other cd-rom.

The part about "it shows up as a CD-RW drive, and if I (rightclick)it and goto hardware its called a DVD/CD-Rom drive, as is my other cd-rom" is not abnormal.
Do you have XP's cd-burn engine on?
What software came with the burner @ the time you got it?
Do you have all XP's critical updates installed.Answers to the above will help.

It was an OEM drive, so Only software which came was the Nero CD , on it also had InCD , other then that there was none that I recalled. I`m unfamiler with XP`s cd-burn engine being on/off , I`ve never seen n e thing about that b4. And ya I have the XP critical updates installed..... also just so you know my burner worked fine b4 i upgraded my computer from a p41.4gig to a amd2600+ , and ya I have newest bisos for my mobo as well. Also i`ve updated to the newest firmware for my burner from LG webpage and from cd freaks. As stated b4, n e thing else I need to list just ask ill try

Sounds most like an ASPI error. Are you using Nvidia's SW IDE drivers instead of the XP defaults? If so, you may want to download Nero's ASPI driver 2.0.1.45.

Is the drive the secondary master or slave?
If the ASPI driver update does not work then I suggest you uninstall all CD burn software you have and run a repair install of XP, when you get done disable XP's IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service and then install nero again.

Right click your CDRW in
My Computer
Properties
Recording tab
See if "Enable CD recording on this drive" is checked.
Cheers de Peter

Hey, Yea, i`ve tried the repair install of XP before, didnt work, yea the enable cd recording on this drive is enabled :/
i`m trying the uninstall of nero again , then ill disable IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service then reinstall and see if that works ... the ASPI driver update didnt work
ill post in a sec if the imapi thing works
