CD r/RW

My CDr/RW has disapeared from windows, there is no trace either in my computer or hardware manager.

It does appear at the startup as a boot drive.

This started as a failure to respond but has progressed to the current state

Hello
Find your XP disk and then go to start/run and type in sfc /scannow. Note the space.
This will put you back to origonal install state.

Thanks for the advise this had no effect at all, I have also tried the MS fix deleting the upper value in the registry this also had no effect
