cd rom wont burn cds

clean installion of xp professional on laptop will read cds but wont burn tryed new cds an all giving same message "insert cd in cdrom" whats the problem

just curious. you said you put the CD into the CDROM.. is it truly a CDROM or is it a CD RW burner?? it makes a difference. you need to have a CD burner to burn CD's.. a regular CDrom wont cut it.

Open My Computer Right click your CD-RW Properties Recording Tab see if Enable CD recording on this drive is checked. If not do so and Viola. Peter
