CD rom prob...pls help

i hav a lenovo laptop and when i bought it the cd rom was working finest.After 2-3 months it started reading only DVD's and audio cd's but not other recorded cd's and data cds...i reinstalled the cd-dvd drive after uninstalling it...But no help there.Whenever i insert a cd in it ,it shows the cd as a blank disc even though it has data in it...thus i cannot see any contents when i double click the drive.Please help.

You could try using a lense cleaning kit on the drive or you may need to replace it. Failure of the lasers in optical drives is common. FYI there are TWO different lasers in your drive. One for CD and one for DVD. That is why the DVD still works.
