My cd rom ejects and then goes back in several hundred times (no exaggeration). It does not matter if there is a disc in or not. Do I need to replace it?

Try re-installing the drivers, and check the IDE cable on the back of the drive to make sure theres a good connection. If that fails, call an exorcist! LOL. You might need to replace the drive. Thats a weird situation!
