My cd rom ejects and then goes back in several hundred times (no exaggeration). It does not matter if there is a disc in or not. Do I need to replace it?

Try re-installing the drivers, and check the IDE cable on the back of the drive to make sure theres a good connection. If that fails, call an exorcist! LOL. You might need to replace the drive. Thats a weird situation!

this is because of a virus. iam not sure about the virus name but it starts with 'O' or 'T'. you can find it only with ANTISPY. download and scan the disk. trial version also do well.
