I have a multi boot system:
Win 98 C:\
XP E:\
Win 2k D:\

And the CD rom drive is I:\

I'm using the LG GCE-8160B cd/rw and have downloaded the firmware update which will enable it to run under XP.....(at the moemnt it doesn't see data on SOME cd disks)

...Well all would be fine if I could run the software update for XP, all it does is update the driver for 98....

Please Help.

Thanks

Ian

The drivers for CD/RW on the Operating systems you cite are the same. Unless you require a DOS driver all CD, CD/RW drives use the same generic drivers. The recording software will be different for different operating systems. The burning software for 98 won't work with XP, but XP will work with 98.

No the problem is that LG released a firmware version as the driver wasn't fully automated with XP - (I think) a cd/rw that I use to back while I was using 98 now can't be viewed it says the disk is empty, i just used a batch file to back up on this cd.

I need to know how to install the firmware option xp when it isn't c:\
