Hi. If anyone can help me with this that would be just awesome. My job recently disabled my CD ROM drive on my computer. I only used it to watch movies when I'm super bored. I am pretty computer savvy, but I cannot; for the life of me, figure out a workaround. I understand that I need admin access... Is there something I can do so that I am not sitting there bored ff my @$$ all night? Ill try anything! :)

If you value your job & the pay you bring home each week, don't do anything to raise the wrath of your bosses. You were hired to WORK, not to watch movies on company time.

Normally movies can't be watched on CDs; you'd need a DVD drive and disk for that.

Regardless, keep trying to get this working, and you won't have to worry about it as you'll no longer have that job or computer.

You can buy a portable dvd player I've seen them for as low as $64. That way when you get tossed from your job you can take it with you..lol
Well we are here to help but you use the advice at your own risk.

Explain disabled?
Was it disabled in the device manager or by an app that the admin installed. Have you checked the ribbon connection.

Don't help this person dig a deeper hole. They are obviously on thin ice right now. Either this post is a hoax or the OP is incredibly stupid.

gigsta187, I suggest that you find some productive way to help the company when you have free time. Ask your supervisor for ways that you might be able to help.

2. Trust me... I wont lose my job even if I get caught..
3. This is not a hoax

It was disabled by the network admin. Thru windows. Its got the little yellow ? next to it in hardware devices saying it has been disabled. Im not asking for a lecture on my ethics at work. I just want to know if there is a way around it. Thanks for any help! :)

When you posted this did you ever read the bit about not asking for help on warez, cracks, illegal software etc.? This post falls within that category and I doubt you'll get any help here.

Here it is in case you did'nt

"DO NOT ask about problems with either illegal software activation or illegal downloads on this forum."

Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!
