I just bought a new HP computer with XP on it and then installed a CD Rewriter on it that had been installed on a Windows 98 computer. The software was Roxio Easy CD Creator which wasn't compatible with XP. So I downloaded a 90 day free upgrade that was compatible with XP. It worked fine for about a week and then I got a message when I turned the computer on "CD Recording software will cause Windows to become unstable. Windows has prevented these drivers from loading." So I uninstalled the Easy CD Creator hoping to get rid of the error message but it was still there. I then ran "RegCleaner" to delete it from my registry as well and also uninstalled the CDR itself. However, the message still displays everytime I start Windows. How can I get rid of this error message? Thanks

Hi,
What you can do is use this program www.kazaa.com and downlaod the latest version of EzCDcreadtor 5 full version. Don't even try to use the trial or demo, cause they're sucks.
After you have averything downloaded, then run an installation of this EZCD creator5. But during the installation it's will ask you to pick if you want to have it set in typical or customizer, PICK CUSTOMIZER. Then keep goes forward. Next step is look for DIRECT CD and right click on that and DISABLE IT. You don't need this function cause this function will crashe you system, but everything else is OK.Also you could visit www.roxio.com which taken over easy CD creator comp. So yeah, check it out and they also do have more infor about this priduct.
Good Luck

Even though you used RegCleaner to delete references to Easy Cd Creator from the Registry, that was probably not enough.
I have seen that RegCleaner often leaves behind a lot of references to old programs in the Registry. You should do two things:
Go to Start/Run, type msconfig and press Enter.
Click on the Startup tab, and uncheck all references you may find concerning Roxio and Easy CD Creator, Direct CD and Take Two (just in case you had installed those components, too).Click OK, then restart your computer when prompted to do so.
If the message appears again, you should manually remove all entries left behind by Roxio/Easy CD Creator from the Registry.
To do so, go to Start/Run, type regedit
and press Enter.Click once on My Computer, at the top of the left panel. Then go to Edit/Search, type Roxio and press Enter. Each time a reference is found, it will be highlighted. You should delete it and press F3 to continue searching for (and deleting) more references in the same way.
After no more references are found, you should go back to the top of the left panel, click once on My Computer again, go to Edit/Search, type Easy CD Creator, and repeat the above process.
When you're finished, close all open windows and restart your computer. The message should (hopefully) be gone.
Hope it helps.Juan

That stupid 90 day trial download needs the XP migration patch at the Roxio site to install right. They've discontinued the trial version, so you have to wonder if it really worked right in the first place.
