cd icons going away

I hade a problem with my cd roms that was freezing up my computer.So sombody told me there where probebly a configuration probem.So i cheque and there was.so i put one master and the other slave.Now the problem i have is the computer is not freezing anymore but my 2 cd icons desepears after a while.So if i need my cd roms i half to reboot to get them.What can i do to fix this problem i have.

What CD icons are you talking about? You shouldn't need any icons to access these drives.
