I got a lappy oem loaded with xppro... I recently put Mepis on the second drive(partition)... then erased it after a short time... had to then manually get rid of GRUB... the thing that lets you choose windows partn or linux partn on booting.. Anyway... I can only run Linux live cd's from the drive... When I'm in windows and go to desktop to check out my partitions/drives... it lists my XP Windows drive... and my empty drive... and has an icon with a little picture of my cd/dvd drive... but when I click the cd/dvd icon it comes up with "empty"... o in it! It sees it there but will not play any cd's dvd's or even recognize them... after a brief chuggung... it goes to nothing there. Again I have no XP CD... it came oem... but I "do" have a recovery disc which would work fine if the cd drive would access it. I'm thinking I have to reinstall a driver... which I'd "have to have" already in my system... because otherwise there's no way to get it read. Anyone know if I can find a/any driver from my system and re-install it... if that is a possible rerason for my trouble?? Thanks for any ideas. Stocky
