yesterday, my computer was working fine and both cd-drives worked. i turned it on today and the computer doesn't even recognize that there are 2 cd-drives there. one cd drive is from ATAPI, but i don't know much more about it, just that it's 56x max. The other drive is an HP cd-writer.

i saw another post titled cd drive problem and i tried what someone suggested, doing stuff in regedit, but it did not work.

any ideas what i can do to fix this? now i am not able to load any cd-rom.

Have you tried resetting System Restore back to yesterday?

Do both drives currently show up in the BIOS?
