Hi me again! After recently formating my hd and bringing my laptop back to updated state, i have noticed that although my disk drive sounds as though it is working, opens when i press the eject button and shows up as "device is working properly" in Device manager, I cannot see the CD/dvd disk drive in My Computer and it does not autorun when i put a cd in (i have tried more than one). Any suggestions? I have tried uninstalling drivers and restarting it twice with no success.

There might be a conflict in drives. From your last thread, you mentioned a USB hard drive. . .so, I think that the USB and CD drive are fighting for a "spot." Right click on my computer, then manage, then disk management. See if the CD-ROM drive shows up there, if not, unplug the USB Hard drive, then boot up and repeat. You can change the drive letters here also, so you could try changing the drive letter of the USB Hard drive / CD-ROM drive.
I found out something very strange... When i turned my laptop off, while it was shutting down, i inserted a cd. Then when i restared i went into setup and disabled the cd drive. i saved changes and rebooted then went into the setup and enabled it again and again restarted. The laptop loaded and the cd was registered in My computer after "Found new hardware device" ran and installed drivers. However, when i ejected the disk and put it straight back in again, it could not register the cd drive in my computer. Restarting it dosnt work either unless i do the disable/enable in bios first. That trick only works if a cd is in the drive. This has me baffled.
