Hello I have a problem with my Mits---a UJDA710 dvd/cd-writer combo. It keeps saying after i install the driver for it states this:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

I would love some feedback if anyone knows about this :)

Thank you for your time!

Jon,
Logon as admin and right click on my computer, select manage and click on device manager, find your drive and remove it, restart your computer and either Xp will find and install your drive or you'll have to install the drivers manually, if the later is the case make sure that you have the right drivers, check the manufacturers site for XP drivers. That's all that I can think of. Good luck.

Hi,
Had the same problem with both my CDrom and CD-RW, no matter how I tried to uninstall n redetect it, it still cited an error. I was trying to track down the problem, did u by any chance install any image drive program like CD space share, nero burning rom, cacheman or plug in an external harddisk? Anyways, as to the solution...well, I reinstalled windows XP again, thank goodness its "stable" now.

Excellent work Verby. This worked AWESOME for me and is the

INSTRUCTIONS:
=============
1. GO TO START -> RUN

2. TYPE "REGEDIT" AND HIT ENTER

3. THEN, WORK YOUR WAY THROUGH THE FOLLOWING DIRECTORIES:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely. I just right-clicked went to modify and erased the line of text that was there. I DON'T THINK YOU SHOULD DELETE THE KEY "FILE THING" :) ITSELF!!

I'm not sure if that actually fixed it or if it was the fact that I uninstalled an old Nero installation that actually did it.

Hopefully that helps somebody :S !!

It did help me! No it not just helped it saved my life and my sanity. I was trying to reinstal/repair Windows ending up (after reboot) with unusable XP setup which could not find CD!! I had to install second XP, copy CD to the HD and restart setup, and ... CD was still not there. Your fix let me live :-))

After installing a burning software that doesn't support your CD-R drive you might get this error message (code 19) and your drives will not work. In my case an old version of Nero did the job. After installing it my cd drives stopped working..
