Hello.
I have a simple system. I have one hard drive with xp pro on it. I have also a dvd player on my system. Both work well.
Well, I recently installed an additional drive, which is a cd burner.
The cd burner showed up in windows explorer and worked fine the first few times I shutdown and rebooted. Now, it doesn't show up in windows explorer. Only my hard drive and my dvd player show up in windows explorer now.
The cd burner will open up when I push the button. If I put a cd in the drive, it will still not show up, and not play anything. And when I put a cd in the drive, the little silver cd icon that usually pops up next to the mouse pointer does not appear.
The cd burner will show up in bios.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

I should have mentioned to ignor the header at the top of the linked page; that fix should work.

Sorry I didn't follow up. A few calamitous events in my life prevented me, though all is well now.
Instructions on this page didn't work: http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...
I'm at a loss.
