CD Burner Problem on XP

Let me first start off by saying that Microsoft and Iomega suck, and I regret even getting XP. Okay, now that that's outta the way, here's the problem. There are two cd burner drivers that are disabled because supposedly they can cause windows to malfunction. I've already downloaded the XP version of the drivers, so how do I get windows to recognize the updated drivers? I've tried going through update driver, but that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

You go to the device manager, locate the cd burner and have XP search your computer for possible drivers, then choose the driver you want installed.

Comment: there has been alot of ppl having the problem with xp not recognising cd roms or dvd roms or floppy drives this is how to fix it if the error you get is code 39 Use regedit to remove the keys named UpperFilter and LowerFilter from: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} Of course always make a back up of your registry first and scroll thru the class registry files till you find the exact hardware you are looking for this one is for cdrw so make sure you delete the right registry key any probs email me
