I have the HP CD-Writer+ 8100. I have had no problems with it until I installed XP. I can still read CDs with the drive, but I can't burn CDs with any CD writer software. I've tried Nero, EZCD, CDRWin. With Nero I get the following errors:

Illegal mode for this track
Could not perform end of Disc At Once
Write error
Invalid writestate
Could not perform EndTrack

Other burner programs would also give me errors, and they would ruin my blank CDs.

I have tried installing all of the ASPI drivers, but that didn't help anything.

I have installed the CD burner fix at WindowsUpdate, but that also didn't help.

Hey Mike,
I know how your feelin . I have a HP CD-Writer 8200 drive that was runing Adaptec easy cd software and it's now incompatabile with xp. The only thing to do is probably wait for some new XP compatable software . My Direct CD discs are not even readable in the drive. I probably would have waited win Win98 if I had known there would be such problems.

Well, my hp 8250 works great! I did have to remove Easy CD creator though.

My solution to you is to download the 90 day free trial of EZCDC 5.? at the Roxio web site. No problems with it so far!

You could go to Windows Update site and install the cd burner support file.

WinXP has it's own CD burning software built in, it works OK but it's a cumbersome three stage process. Try uninstalling all 3rd party CD burning software and give it a try. Easy CD update will rescue us all soon.

I put a blank cd into the cd-rw drive. I select the files. And hit copy this folder

I ran into the same problem with XP and my Sony CRX-1611 Burner. I downloaded Roxio EX-CD Creator 5.0 and it works perfectly. 5.0 also lets you copy via windows explorer

hi guys..

I see so many people having the same problem but no possible solutions? I have all of the above problems actually. Invalid writestate error with nero and all my blanks getting wasted with any other CD-burner software also. I have a Creative 6424E drive. I upgraded to XP from Win98 and still having the same problems (same error). And XP's built in s/w doesn't work. Or if it burns then the drive doesn't see any files in it.

I contacted NERO tech support, Creative tech support... No luck there!! I might as well have been talking to monkeys...!

SOMEONE HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
