Help! I am a frustrated novice! I just had a new 8G hard drive installed and information from the old hard drive was to be transfered. On the old hard drive was a patch that allowed my Easy CD Creator Deluxe Edition (3.5c) software to hook up with my Smart and Friendly CD-R 4012 burner. When I bought the burner, it was a new product and Adaptec did not support it yet. I contacted Adaptec and their tech dept. walked me through a series of updates which connected the software to my burner. It appears this patch was deleted. I have contacted Adaptec and Roxio. I an being told that neither company supports this old product anymore. They only deal with versions 5 and 6 and have no info in their archives. (I find this hard to believe). I am also being told that Windows XP does not support this unit or software. I have not contacted Microsoft yet. To upgrade as these companies would like, I would have to buy a new computer, new CD burner and software. My old equipment works just fine! I believe there has to be a way to get my burner to read and operate my software - after all, it was patched together before and this equipment has worked fine for the last 7 years without any problems. Any information or solutions will be greatly appreciated. If further info is required, please e-mail me and if needed, we can make arrangements to speak on the phone. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Larry A. Smith

the version of roxio ezcd that supports xp is 5.02d an update from version 5, which was incompatible with xp. so i switched to nero version 5.5 ,it worked better then roxio with xp. and my cd-rw wasn't listed as being supported by xp, but works with nero.
